Copies of Walter Slaje's Madden Lecture Now Available

Dr. Slaje, an author of over 90 works spanning the fields of Indology, Kashmir, Palaeography and Manuscriptology, is the Professor and Chair of Indology at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and joint editor of the Zeitschrift der Deutschen Morgenlandischen Gesellschaft.

The Madden lecture series is made possible by the Alma Cowden Madden Professorship in Liberal Arts given generously by Mr. and Mrs. Wales H. Madden Jr. of Amarillo, TX. This lecture, the first of the series, was presented in the Spring of 2004. It was followed by that of Dr. Osmund Bopearachchi, Director of Research at C.N.R.S. Professeur Habilite, University of Paris at Sorbonne, in the Fall of the same year.

The next lecture, scheduled to take place on October 27th, 2005, will be given by the recently retired Boden Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford, Dr. Richard Gombrich.
