THC Cemeteries Preservation Program
• If you've found a burial on your property, please contact the THC using the Cemeteries Preservation Program link above. State law requires you file a notice with your county clerk and the THC. The Texas Penal Code also penalizes anyone who knowingly disturbs or disinters human remains (regardless of the age of the remains).
