The FLLITE Approach: Activity Design, Assessment, and Publication

Sat, July 16, 2016 | CLA, 1032B, Glickman Conference Center, The University of Texas at Austin

8:00 AM - 4:30 AM

  • Joanna Luks (Cornell University)
  • Chantelle Warner (University of Arizona)
  • Carl Blyth (University of Texas, COERLL)

Participants will use pedagogical principles and strategies from the Foreign Languages and the Literary in the Everyday (FLLITE) project to create original lessons, discover new open educational materials featuring playful language use, incorporate formative and summative assessment into FLLITE lessons, and prepare and peer-review materials for possible publication. This is a two-day workshop (July 15 and 16).

About the FLLITE project

FLLITE aims to create an educational community of teachers who will generate crowdsourced literacy lessons for the L2 classroom. The lessons will refine and extend the pedagogical principles of “the literary in the everyday”, in which “the literary” refers to the range of playful, metaphorical, and non-conventional ways of making meaning.

This workshop runs 8am to 4:30pm each day, and will be held in CLA 1.302B of the Glickman Conference Center in the College of Liberal Arts building on the UT-Austin campus. CPE credit is available for those who attend the whole workshop.

Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments on both days of the workshop, and a Friday evening social event will be provided!

A nominal tiered fee is charged to help offset the cost of materials, refreshments, meals, and a Friday social event:
