Which Language Should I Learn?
You will want to learn the language that you will most enjoy, and that you will get the most out of, and reasons for choosing a language will be personal. It is not advisable, however, to choose a language based on how easy you think it is likely to be: all of UT Austin’s language courses are intensive, and you will progress fastest in a language you are most motivated to learn. Here are some things to bear in mind when choosing between the more than 35 languages taught at UT Austin:
- Do you have family or friends you want to communicate with in another language?
- Is a particular language going to be an asset in your field of work or study?
- Do you have an interest in a specific culture that you would like to explore more fully?
