Kari White, Associate Professor in Health Care Organization & Policy, University of Alabama at Birmingham - Investigator

Kari White conducts health services research using qualitative and quantitative methods. Her research focuses on family planning services provided at publicly funded clinics, access to abortion and vasectomy. She is also involved with studies on postpartum contraceptive use.

Kari also researches the impact of health service delivery models and policies on access to and use of highly effective contraception, with a focus on low-income and immigrant populations. She was a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development pre-doctoral fellow on the Border Contraceptive Access Study, which examined how prescription and over-the-counter access affect Latina women’s oral contraceptive use. She also is the Principal Investigator of a study examining factors influencing vasectomy use. She earned her doctorate in sociology, with a specialization in demography, from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kari joined the faculty at UAB in 2011 and lectures on reproductive health policy and family planning and immigrant health. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, cooking, and traveling.
