Providers' Barriers to Offering Contraception in the Healthy Texas Women Program, New TxPEP Research Brief

TxPEP has published a new brief entitled "Providers' Barriers to Offering Contraception in the Healthy Texas Women's (HTW) Program." The brief reports on a survey conducted with 114 HTW providers about their clinical practices related to the provision of common birth control methods, including the key strengths of and key challenges for participating providers.

The brief finds that the majority of HTW providers offer highly effective methods on site, but not all providers follow clinical guidelines for timely initiation of contraception.

The brief further explores barriers providers experience to offering IUDs and implants.
