Our fine arts teacher certification program offers prospective teachers valuable real-world teaching experience in diverse settings. UTeach Fine Arts has a strong track record of preparing artists, actors, dancers, and musicians to teach in schools across Texas and the nation. UTeach Natural Science
UTeach is an innovative program designed to recruit undergraduate STEM majors and prepare them to become teachers. Developed by faculty experts in STEM education and the history of science and mathematics, the program emphasizes a deep understanding of STEM content, effective teaching practices, and strong theory-practice connections.

The Urban Teachers teacher preparation program equips you to become the kind of secondary (middle or high school) teacher who contributes, along with your students, to achieving greater educational and social justice in urban schools, communities, and beyond. The University of Texas at Austin provides several paths to those of you who want to become teachers. Preparation programs are offered for undergraduates, non-degree-seeking post-baccalaureates and graduate master’s students. Learn more about the different program options offer down below.

EC-6 Certification: for teaching pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
7-12 Certification: for teaching seventh through twelfth grade.

You Should Know
1. All students must undergo a criminal history background check. This is required for all field experiences and before a district can employ you as an educator. If you have been convicted of an offense that is considered not appropriate for an educator, you could be ineligible to earn certification in the state of Texas.

You have a right to request a preliminary criminal history evaluation letter from the Texas Education Agency before admission into this program. The Texas Education Agency currently charges a fee for this criminal history Evaluation. More information on the Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation may be found at https://tea.texas.gov/Texas_Educators/Investigations/Preliminary_Criminal_History_Evaluation-FAQs/
2. All educators must adhere to the Texas Educator Code of Ethics (Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 247, http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/sbecrules/tac/chapter247/ch247.html#247.2). Educators may be dismissed from the program for violations of this Code of Ethics.
