Travel Funds
Graduate School Professional Development Awards:
These awards provide support for students to attend major professional meetings at which they present an original paper based on their research. The Graduate School allocates travel funds to each department or program. Students can contact the WGS Graduate Coordinator for self-nomination.
(Registration is required during the semester the funds are to be used. Summer registration will be waived if the student was registered for the prior spring semester.)
WGS MA Students should visit the Professional Development Awards webpage for the student application form and additional information. Students may submit a completed application for self-nomination to the WGS Graduate Coordinator as soon as the abstract has been accepted for presentation. Students will also need to provide an abstract of their presentation, and confirmation of their invitation to present. Once the award is approved by the Graduate School, the student may request payment in advance of travel.
CWGS Travel Funds:
WGS MA students who are presenting at conferences are encouraged to apply for travel funds through the Center for Women’s & Gender Studies after they have applied to the Graduate School. Requests for travel funds are approved by the WGS Graduate Adviser at a rate of up to $250 (depending on funds available) for WGS MA students. WGS MA students who are attending a conference (but not presenting) may also apply, but first preference is given to student presenters. WGS Graduate Portfolio students may apply for CWGS travel funds at a rate of up to $100 (depending on funds available) with first preference given to student presenters.
