Major Requirements
To earn a degree in Asian American Studies (AAS) each student must complete major, core, flag and Liberal Arts requirements. Degree plans are available online.
Major Requirements:
The undergraduate Asian American Studies major in the College of Liberal Arts requires 24 semester hours of coursework in addition to all other core, flag and Liberal Arts requirements.
The 2018-2020 AAS major requirements are:
- AAS 301 Introduction to Asian American Studies OR AAS 312 Introduction to Asian American History
- AAS 310 Introductory Topics in Asian American Studies OR AAS 314 Asian American Literature and Culture
- AAS 377 Capstone Seminar
- 15 additional hours of upper-division Asian American Studies that must cover at least two different tracks identified as:
- Culture, Literature, and Media Studies;
- Economics, History, and Government;
- Social Sciences;
- and Public Policy
- 24 hours total required, including 18 hours upper-division and 18 hours in residence
Minor Requirements:
- AAS 301 Introduction to Asian American Studies OR AAS 312 Introduction to Asian American History
- 9 hours of upper-division AAS; 3 additional hours of AAS
- 15 hours total
