Summer 2025 Sessions for Students
Participants may attend one or both sessions during the Summer 2025 season:
- Belize Session 1 = May 15 – June 12
- Belize Session 2 = June 12 – July 10 (UT Summer Session)
The last four days of each session are intended for optional travel to Guatemala and/or the Belize Cayes (Caye Caulker or Amergris Caye).
Pricing
Project fees are estimated to be US $1,865 for one session or $2,865 for both sessions.
This fee includes:
- Room and board.
- Project-related travel within Belize.
This fee does not include:
- Roundtrip airfare to Belize.
- Tuition for academic credit (for students at The University of Texas at Austin, please visit Tuition Dollars & Sense for more information about tuition rates).
- Optional travel to Guatemala and/or the Belize Cayes at the end of each session.
- Mandatory health insurance coverage for students at The University of Texas at Austin. Mandatory health insurance coverage will be billed at the rate of $19 per week. Students at The University of Texas at Austin who are registering for credit will also be responsible for a $75 Study Abroad Office application and processing fee. Both fees will be billed to the What I Owe page after the application deadline has passed and students are instructed to complete mandatory forms in the MySAO Portal.
Academic Credit
Students at The University of Texas at Austin may earn 6 credit hours during a summer session. Other credit options may be available. Enrollment for credit and payment of UT tuition are optional.
The courses that are scheduled for university credit are:
- ANT 662 Field Archaeology (June 12-July 10).
- ANT 379 Problems in Anthropology, which is available to returning field school students and to students participating in both program sessions.
Application Deadlines
Students at The University of Texas at Austin who will register for academic credit and who wish to be eligible to apply for the Belize field school program scholarship must apply by March 1, 2025. This scholarship is available only to students at The University of Texas at Austin who will be registering for academic credit.
All students at The University of Texas at Austin who will be registering for academic credit must apply by April 1st, 2025. Any student who applies after the March 1st scholarship deadline will not be eligible to apply for the program scholarship.
All non-UT Austin students intending to earn academic credit must apply by March 1st, 2025. Non-UT Austin students must also complete, by March 1st, the following: admissions form, official transcript, advisor form, and acknowledgement form. Others, including volunteers from The University of Texas at Austin or volunteers from other institutions, must apply by April 1, 2025.
