Research Scholars

The Ethics Project Research Scholars Program is an internship open to students in all UT colleges, schools, and departments. Earn 1, 2, or 3 credits (most often through CMS 178K/278K/378K) by participating in the internship program. Research Scholars will assist The Ethics Project at UT Austin in promoting reflection on ethical issues in medicine, communication, engineering, public policy, aesthetics, technology, and more at The University of Texas at Austin. 

What activities do The Ethics Project Research Scholars take part in?

• Scholars attend at least three exciting events on campus organized by The Ethics Project and/or The Media Ethics Initiative to discuss ethical issues during the semester.
• Scholars will research and write case studies on pressing topics in ethics that will be used across campus and across the nation. All case studies produced by Research Scholars will carry the name of the intern who researched and wrote them.

What do The Ethics Project Research Scholars get from this program?

• Scholars earn the title of “Ethics Project Research Scholars” and will be recognized as such on The Ethics Project’s website.
• Scholars will learn more about important ethical controversies in an area of interest. 
• Scholars will learn about effective communication in learning environments.
• Scholars will develop skills needed for moral reasoning and argumentation. 
• Scholars will produce high-quality case studies bearing their name.
