Transcript-Recognized Certificate in GER

Applicable to students under the 2018-2020 academic catalog and applicable to students under previous catalogues as a stand-alone certificate. 

18 hours of GER, including at least 6 hours of upper division coursework. At least 9 hours of the GER certificate must be completed in residence.

Students may apply for the certificate here: If you plan to pursue the certificate as a stand-alone (2016-2018 catalog and prior), please contact the department’s academic advisor to complete the process. Otherwise, please contact your major academic advisor to request that they attach it to your degree profile.

GER Minor

Applicable to students in the 2014-2016 catalog and prior (non-transcriptable).

Requirements and options for minors vary widely among colleges and majors at UT Austin. Students should refer to the degree plan for their major to see if it requires a minor. The Department of Germanic Studies Academic Advisor is available to discuss appropriate course choices with you, but it is best to check with the advisor in your major to clarify the exact requirements for a minor.
