K-12 Programs

Hemispheres combines the resources available at a major university with the need for new and updated resources in the public school classroom in order to provide innovative standards-aligned training and professional development, develop ready-to-use curriculum materials, and provide other resources for K-12 educators, students, and curriculum specialists.

Below are our most popular services.  If you don't see something that would benefit you, please contact us.

  • Curriculum Resources
We have dozens of curriculum units and supplemental materials ready for you to download—FREE! From our thematic curriculum units to our wildly popular 15 Minute History podcast, chances are you'll find something that fits your teaching style and classrooms needs.
  • Workshops
Our workshops are designed to introduce our primary strength: background knowledge and content on the world regions that we cover. Our workshops are geared toward educators who know how to teach their students effectively, but want more background information on what to teach their students.
  • Staff Development
Hemispheres offers professional development workshops right in your school, district, or ESC at little or no cost. We can come in for a full day or half-day and give international area content training and resource sharing.
  • Online Training
Need a quick refresher on the basics of Hinduism, can't remember what holiday comes at the end of Ramadan, or hoping to introduce a little Portuguese into your Spanish class?  Check out our webinar archive and links to online language training courses and materials.
  • Lending Libraries
Some of Hemispheres' component Centers maintains a lending library of videos, curriculum units, books, artifact trunks, and other materials specifically designed for K-12 classrooms. The only cost is return postage!
  • Public Events
The University of Texas offers a myriad of cultural events throughout the year.  Click here for the University's master calendar to see everything on offer from concerts to lectures to Explore UT, our annual open house!
  • E-Bulletin
During the school year, we send out a regular E-Bulletin with information on our upcoming workshops and training opportunties, along with other educational, cultural, and international themed events from around the state. You can sign up for weekly messages that include events happing around Austin, or monthly messages that contain items of interest to educators around the state and country.
