Alan Mattay is a PhD student in the History department. He holds a BA and MA in History from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He studies the role that children and childhood played in the rhetoric, politics, and economics of the American Colonization Society’s West African settlements which eventually became the independent republic Liberia in 1847.
