Benjamin Griffin



Cold War, Insurgencies, Post-Conflict Operations, American Culture in the Cold War


Ben is an active duty Army Officer.  He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2006 with a B.S. in American History and commissioned as a 2LT.  Served tours of duty at Ft Drum, NY with 1-71 Cavalry of the 1st Brigade Combat Team 10th Mountain Infantry Division and at Ft Hood, TX with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division.  Ben deployed to Iraq twice and spent the majority of his tours in the provinces of Salah Ah Din and Diyala.  He earned a MA in International Security from the University of Arizona in 2012 and is pursuing an advance degree in history prior to an assignment as an instructor at the United States Military Academy.

Ben's primary historical interest is the the Cold War with a focus on the development and implementation of grand strategy.  Additional fields of interest include insurgency and rebellion, post-conflict operations, and literature.
