HISTORY MINOR  -   Only the 2016-18 and 2018-20 catalogs

Why a minor in History?

  • Excellent for Law school preparation or any career path.
The History Minor:
  • 15 hours of History including:
    - 6 hrs of Upper-division History and
    - 9 hours in residence at UT Austin
  • Minor will appear on your transcript upon graduation.

What’s the Next Step?   

  • Notify your major advisor ASAP.
    - Tell them you want to pursue a History minor.   
  • Start taking History courses (1 or 2 per semester)

The transcript-recognized undergraduate academic minor must be completed in conjunction with an undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin.  The requirements listed above are for students following the 2016-2018 and later Undergraduate Catalogs.  Minor requirements for students following earlier catalogs are not transcript-recognized and will vary according to a student’s degree plan.
