As IUPRA conducts research for the upcoming State of Black Lives in Texas: Health report, we found it crucial to release a policy brief highlighting maternal health disparities for Black women. Black mothers die at 2.3 times higher rates than White women regardless of their income, education, marital status, or health factors. These disparities exist in Travis County, throughout the state of Texas, and across the United States.
