The Brazil Center's mission is to support Brazilian studies across academic disciplines at the University of Texas, to promote collaborative research and exchange between Texas and Brazil, and to raise awareness of Brazil and its culture through community outreach. 

  • BRASA 2020

BRASA is an international, interdisciplinary group of scholars who support and promote Brazilian studies in all fields, especially in the humanities and social sciences. BRASA is dedicated to the promotion of Brazilian studies around the world in general, and in the United States in particular. BRASA organizes an international conference on Brazilian studies every other year, and in 2020 the BRASA conference will be held at the University of Texas at Austin.

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, a multidisciplinary institute that integrates several centers and programs devoted to promote interest in the region, is the oldest Latin American Studies program in the United States and one of the best worldwide. LLILAS has an unpaid internship program designed to provide UT students with the opportunity to gain professional experience by learning about the work of multiple programs within LLILAS or to develop research skills by working with some of our most distinguished Latin Americanist faculty.

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitzu Club at UT

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitzu (BJJ) club at the University of Texas is a  student organization dedicated to promoting affordable and quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction in a safe and fun environment.Click here to learn more about BJJ at UT.

  • Bate Papo Sessions

Join the Dept. of Spanish & Portuguese for our weekly Bate-Papo Portuguese conversation group! It's a relaxed and friendly environment to practice your Portuguese. All levels are welcome!

  • Language Partnership Program

On Wednesday afternoons, meet UT students studying foreign languages for conversation and language exchange (Portuguese meets in Calhoun 22).
