Mexican American and Latina/o Studies Major

Latino Studies is part of the College of Liberal Arts, and like many liberal arts fields of study we help you understand the world — and yourself. Our interdisciplinary courses help you make sense of politics, culture, identity, and injustice, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to make meaningful impact in your chosen career path. Our classes are designed to help students think critically about the lived experiences and issues Latinas/os face in the United States.

Race, Indigeneity & Migration Major

Race, Indigeneity & Migration (RIM) is a new interdisciplinary major offered by the College of Liberal Arts with faculty and courses from AADS, Asian American studies, Latina/o studies, LGBTQ studies, Native American and Indigenous studies and Women and Gender studies. Students pursuing the RIM major will gain multicultural and comparative knowledge around issues of race, gender, sexuality, indigeneity and global migration at the sites of law, policy, economies, cultural spheres and public education.

Urban Studies Major

Urban Studies is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program at UT that combines classroom studies with real-world experience in the Austin metropolitan area. Women's & Gender Studies Major

Women's & Gender Studies Majors in the College of Liberal Arts learn to think critically, communicate effectively and lead. Our curriculum emphasizes ethics, integrity, citizenship and awareness of global issues. The program's large and diverse faculty is drawn from the university's 18 colleges and schools. Particular strengths of the faculty include African-American studies, cultural studies, diaspora studies, feminist theories, health and social welfare, international and post-colonial feminisms, media studies, performance studies, popular culture, LGBTQ/Sexualities Studies and public policy.
