Andrew Messamore is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology. Andrew's research is broadly concerned with the relationship between how Americans organize in their communities and rising political and economic inequalities in the United States.  

Andrew has been involved with a number of projects during his time at the program. Recent work includes research on role played by labor unions in securing employer sponsored health care coverage, research on the intergenerational transmission of labor union membership, and a study of interlocking directorates among nonprofit organizations. Andrew has also worked closely with Dr. Pamela Paxton in a multi-year project assessing the impact of non-profit organizations on communities in the U.S.
