Andrew Messamore is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology. Andrew studies changing modes of local organizing at work and in neighborhoods in the United States and how the ways people associate shapes community, public discourse, and economic inequality.

Andrew has been involved with a number of projects during his time at the program. Recent published work includes research on the role played by labor unions in health care coverage and how service and advocacy organizations have shaped public discourse about trauma. Andrew has also worked closely with Dr. Pamela Paxton in a multi-year project assessing the impact of non-profit organizations on communities in the U.S.
