Biography
Haley Stritzel is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology and a Population Research Center graduate trainee at the University of Texas-Austin. Her research focuses on how family and neighborhood contexts shape youth's emotional and physical well-being. She plans to pursue a specialization in demography and complete a Portfolio in Applied Statistical Modeling. She is a former NICHD Predoctoral Trainee in Population Studies.
Currently, Haley is working on a variety of projects including an examination of the neighborhood variation in the relationship between family disruption and youth's secondary exposure to violence, demographic estimates of children's risk of living apart from their mothers, and a cross-national comparison of the effect of youth's poverty status during childhood on later health behaviors.
Her master's thesis explores how neighborhood contexts moderate the association between early childhood adversity and adolescent substance use.
Haley received her B.A. in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Tulsa.
