Inbar Weiss and Kevin Dahaghi win Norval Glenn Prize
Inbar Weiss and Kevin Dahaghi

The Department of Sociology is very pleased to announce that the 2019 Norval Glenn Prize has been jointly awarded to Inbar Weiss and Kevin Dahagi for their article, “Revisiting the Relationship between Education and Marriage in an Era of Rising Student Loan Debt.” Please join us in congratulating Inbar and Kevin!

Award Committee Chair Mark Hayward noted that the submissions were outstanding this year, so it was a very tough choice. The Department and Committee wish to express many thanks to all who submitted.  Along with Mark, the Committee included Jennifer Glass and Maya Charrad.

The Norval Glenn Prize was founded in 2011 in honor of Professor Emeritus Norval Glenn, a longtime Professor of Sociology at The University of Texas at Austin. Following Dr. Glenn’s death, a fund was established to honor Dr. Glenn’s many contributions to the Department and to the discipline, and to encourage the research of graduate students. The Norval Glenn Prize is awarded to a UT Austin Sociology graduate student with the best article in the area of family sociology.
