Raul Martinez Awarded Two Grants For Dissertation Research

Graduate Student Raul "Qui'chi" Martinez has been awarded grants from The Jacobs Research Funds and the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILLAS) for his dissertation research.

My research seeks to address why verbal art such as storytelling and chants might play a central role in producing knowledge and power in Otavalo, Ecuador. I will primarily work with Kichwa speaking people of this Andean town who are invested in maintaining different types of social networks (i.e., local; international; commercial).
