The Securities Division enables our clients to buy and sell financial products, raise funds and manage risk. We make markets and facilitate client transactions in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products. In addition, we make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. 

Through our global sales force, we maintain relationships with our clients, receiving orders and distributing investment research, trading ideas, market information and analysis 

What We Do 
Functionally, the Securities Division performs the following primary roles across various lines of business: 

Sales plays a key role in building and maintaining relationships with our clients, helping to design investing and hedging strategies. 

Trading makes markets for issuing and investing clients and facilitates trades by providing liquidity. 

Investing researches industry sectors and individual companies and makes longer-term investments. 

Strats use their mathematical and scientific training and work closely with the firm’s trading, sales and banking professionals to create financial products, measure risk and identify market opportunities. 

Structurers create and advise on more complex derivative solutions tailored to a client's specific asset and liability management requirements. 

The Securities Division Finance/Investing Summer Program will be a total of ten weeks beginning with one week of training. Following training, summer interns will have one, 9 week placement with a specific finance or investing desk. 

The desks that have historically been involved in the placed program are: 
-Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG) 
-Goldman Sachs Reinsurance Group (GSRG) 

In these roles, summer interns will have the opportunity to work on live deals that can involve valuation of assets and using financial modeling techniques. 

Summer intern responsibilities can include (but are not limited to): creating client solicitation materials, updating client lists, assisting with transaction proposals, structuring, pricing, marketing, and financing. Throughout the summer, the program includes lunches and dinners hosted by senior Managing Directors, presentations and panels. Students will have the opportunity to participate in small group assignments which involve research, presentations and networking. Securities Division Summer Program participants will also enjoy a day of community service and a wide array of networking events. There will be a strong mentoring component as well as an opportunity to receive both ongoing informal and formal feedback.
