The Houston Office is currently seeking a Lawyer Support Assistant in its Houston Office. Utilizing critical reasoning skills, common sense, excellent writing abilities and a variety of technology applications, the Lawyer Support Assistant will assist lawyers with a wide range of tasks, including time management, client and court communications, calendar maintenance, file management, expense report processing, time entry, travel coordination, and other duties as required to assist the lawyer in being as effective and efficient as possible in the delivery of top quality legal services to Jones Day's clients. 

The Lawyer Support Assistant will work under general supervision and direction of assigned Lawyer(s) and the Office Administrator, and will perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work product, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. The position involves substantial one-on-one exposure to the daily activities of partners and associates and thus requires an individual strongly committed to maintaining the strict confidentiality standards maintained by Jones Day. 

college degree preferred 
Expertise in Windows and MS Office applications 
Thorough knowledge of database and spreadsheet software 
Strong organizational and time management skills 
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation 
Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities 
Ability to work overtime, as needed
