Because the Organization of American States (OAS) is the main political forum of the Region that promotes and supports Democracy, Human Rights, Multi-dimensional Security and Integral Development in the Americas. The OAS seeks to prevent conflicts and to bring political stability, social inclusion and prosperity to the region through dialogue and collective action. 

We offer you a unique opportunity to acquire experience in different areas of expertise, in an international and multicultural environment enhancing your networking possibilities. In addition, you will have the chance to acquire significant knowledge of the OAS, its mission, pillars, structure and projects in the hemisphere 

he internships are offered 3 times a year (winter/spring, summer and fall), in which approximately 70 interns are selected by over 40 departments/areas within the General Secretariat of the OAS to participate in each session. 

Every week interns participate in informative meetings about the Organization, where they learn about its pillars, mission and projects. Visits to other international organizations in the area (such as IDB, World Bank, PAHO, etc) are also part of the internship program, as well as the opportunity to participate in the MOAS/PC or Model OAS that simulates the Permanant council. These activities are mandatory for all participants and it allows them to gain skills and experience in a multicultural environment. 

Although internships are unpaid, they are highly competitive and in order to be selected the applicant must meet the requirements and submit all required documentation. 

The main objectives of the Organization of American States (OAS) Internship Program are: 
1. To Promote the program throughout the Hemisphere in order to target high-potential students and young professionals. 
2. To build up a succesful pool for recruitment. 
3. To guarantee that interns obtain a meaningful learning experience, so they: 
• acquire knowledge related to work, and 
• enhance their networking possibilities. 
4. To disseminate, through interns, the work of the OAS in different countries
