This non-paying internship is available on a semester basis. The intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with different aspects of event planning and fundraising through the help in preparation of major events as well as other fundraising projects. The intern will also have the opportunity to learn development skills through the cultivation of the Seton Development Board and the Elizabeth Ann Seton Board; two volunteer groups committed to the excellence of Seton. Exposure to all aspects of The Seton Fund and its various fundraising entities, including grant writing, cultivation and stewardship, annual giving, and other fundraising outlets will be provided.

Principal duties and responsibilities

Essential Functions:

1) Execute special projects designed in concert with the Special Events Coordinators at The Seton Fund.

2) Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: maintaining communication with volunteers, committees and sponsors; updating sponsor database; maintaining event auction items/database; assist with Gala correspondence and logistics; assist with the planning and coordinating of board meetings; assist with all other aspects of event planning, fundraising and development as assigned by Special Events Coordinators. Assist with other areas of the Seton Fund including mail campaigns and grant writing.

Skills / Experience

1) Strong interpersonal skills and written communication skills are essential as are planning and problem-solving skills.
2) Works well under pressure.
3) Proactive/self starter who manages multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
4) Thinks strategically and creatively; works independently and within a team environment.
5) Must be familiar with and knowledgeable of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Word Perfect, etc. Design software skills a plus.
