Description: 
The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a policy research institute; a think tank; a major presence in state, national, and international media; and more. We shape Texas policy according to the principles of individual responsibility, limited government, and fiscal rectitude. We advance the vision of a society of prosperity and freedom that has proven its case again and again. 

The Foundation is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to play a vital role in the organization’s fundraising efforts. The major gifts officer will work in close collaboration with the entire development team to expand current fundraising efforts and implement a comprehensive philanthropy operation, with a focus on expanding the Foundation’s base of active donors. 

The ideal candidate will excel at developing and cultivating relationships with donors. They must be able to communicate our mission and generate the donations that make our work possible. We need someone who grasps the moral truths undergirding our work for liberty and can share our vision with the biggest donors and philanthropists in Texas and across America. The position can be based in Austin, Houston, or the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
• Develop, cultivate, and secure major gifts for the Foundation’s work; 
• Manage a portfolio of current donors and prospects; 
• Play a key role in cultivating new donors through the Foundation’s outreach event strategy; 
• Perform donor research, including identifying new major prospects; 
• Develop appropriate cultivation strategies (personal visits, correspondence, event participation, etc.); 
• Move supporters and prospects in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and make solicitations when appropriate; 
• Provide a high level of quality stewardship after a gift; and 
• Ensure that all donor contact is reported in the database immediately and comprehensively. 
Qualifications: 
• Significant experience in major gift fundraising with a track record of success 
• Knowledge of free market donors and national/state network a major plus 
• Superb story-telling, writing, oral communication, and debate skills 
• Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task, set priorities, and follow through 
• Strong commitment to the principles of personal responsibility and free enterprise 
• Ability to travel frequently – 50 to 75 percent of time 
• High attention to detail 
• Personable, self-motivated, and professional 
• Bachelor’s Degree
