Job Description - Canvas Support Specialist – Student Worker 

The Center for Teaching and Learning, Canvas Implementation Team is seeking new Canvas Support Specialists (Student Workers) for Spring 2015, continuing appointment possible based on performance. Our team is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Canvas, as well as developing long-term strategies, conducting training and outreach, and working with students, faculty, and staff to use Canvas to support the educational mission of The University of Texas at Austin. 

We are seeking resourceful, creative, and quick-thinking students who are interested in education and technology who can work with faculty and staff to assist them through the set up and effective use of Canvas. 

You will gain valuable skills related to consulting, technology, and contributing to a professional work environment. 

This is a 10/hr week position with a wage of $12/hr. 

Canvas Support Specialists will: 
• Stay up-to-date with Canvas features and course-construction techniques. 
• Provide answers to faculty/staff by identifying problems and guiding them through corrective steps. 
• Participate in development of faculty/staff training programs 
• Represent the Center for Teaching and Learning with a professional and positive attitude in all faculty/staff correspondence 
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Skills/Qualifications: 
• Clear written and verbal communication 
• Customer service experience 
• Canvas and Blackboard experience 
• Problem solving and flexibility 
• Willingness to learn 
• Discretion and a professional demeanor 

We are especially interested in candidates who have skills in one or more of the following areas:
• Web development/scripting/programming 
• Technical writing 
• Graphic design 
• Multimedia skills 
• Teaching/instructional design 

Eligibility Requirements: 
You must be enrolled for a minimum six credit hours at UT Austin
