WDP is a statewide membership-based worker rights and advocacy organization that empowers low-income workers to achieve fair employment through education, direct services, organizing, and strategic partnerships. The Education Programs Coordinator position will supervise the coordination and operation of key Austin-based educational programming, including the ESL program, the
Computer program, the Health/Safety Literacy program, and the 8-week Leadership Development course.

Through these educational direct services, WDP provides concrete hard and soft skills development opportunities for its members.

The success of these programs are directly tied to effective management of program administration (intake/registration, wrap around support services, and outake) and cross-sector partnerships with local, state, and federal organizations and agencies, including AmeriCorps, the Department of Labor-OSHA, and the Employment and Training Administration. The Education Programs Coordinator in Austin will coordinate all recruitment, registration, and wrap around support services and partnership collaborations for WDP’s education direct service provision areas of ESL, Computer Literacy, Health/Safety Literacy, and the Leadership Development Course.

The position will also require direct supervision of part-time and contracted ESL and Computer Literacy instructors and membership outreach coordinators, who help to coordinate a worker-led committees that plan social events, outreach events, and organizing activities to mobilize the membership base for WDP actions. The Education Program Coordinator reports directly to the Adult Education and Training Director. 


• Supervise registration, recruitment, and wrap-around support services for the ESL program, the Computer program, the Health/Safety Literacy program, and the 8-week Leadership Development course. 

• Research new partnership opportunities to support the development of WDP’s Construction Careers Institute, a workforce development program. 

• Coordinate and manage cross-sector partnerships for the Construction Careers Institute and the Department of Labor/OSHA health and safety program, called CEPA 
• Supervise part-time and contract personnel, as well as interns 
• Work collaboratively with workers, advocates, community/state/federal partners to build and sustain quality educational programming for WDP members. 
• Supervise Austin-based member registration and dues collection. 
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with faith and labor allies, attorneys, state agencies, students, Spanish language media, and other community allies 
• Any other activities that are necessary to carry out the work of WDP 


• Fluent in English and Spanish (strong written and verbal communication skills) 

• Two years of supervisory experience 

• Two years project and program management experience 

• Professional report writing experience and ability to conduct research (qualitative and qualitative) 

• Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends (organizing position is a full-time salaried position)

• Ability to work well with diverse groups of people (including faith, labor, and Latina/o immigrants, among others)

• Commitment to racial and economic justice and to bringing about change through leadership development and principles of popular education

• Detail-oriented and ability to work independently 

• Strong computer literacy skills 

• Have your own vehicle
