Fulcrum Capital

Summer 2015 Site Review

Position: Trade Desk Intern
Student: Economics Junior

Fulcrum Capital is a niche special situation and distressed trading desk.Fulcrum combines proprietary and third party capital to provide liquidity and superior execution services. Since joining Fulcrum I have quickly found my feet and structure my days into a steady routine.

Each morning I wake up at 6:45am, I am able to get ready for work at a leisurely pace and lose my early morning grogginess. I leave for work each day by 7:45am, which gives me time to get downtown and park in my normal parking garage.

I’ll drag in along with the traders in between 8:00am and 8:10am. Each day I work on a variety of task. These tasks will range from finding contacts for specific firms or debt holders to calculating yield to worst returns for various bonds. Much of this work is based on the firm’s CRM application, which relates all the information people gather to other employees.

Most of the research I conduct is shared, through this platform, with the traders. In the rare event I have some downtime between projects I am able to look through this database to read old notes and gather information on previous events/trades. At around 11:50am I compile my day’s work to send it to my boss for review.
Working at Fulcrum is an excellent chance to gain work experience.
