Spring 2014 Site Review

Position: Content Intern
Student: English Senior

My supervisor was extremely flexible with my school schedule and essentially let me decide how I would divide my 15-20 hours per week, so long as they remained consistent and advanced notice was given for any changes in the future. My workday began at 9:30 in the morning and was over at 5:00 in the evening on Mondays and Wednesdays. I really enjoyed having this schedule mixed in with my Tuesday and Thursday class schedule because it gave me a feel for what an actual workweek would be like in the professional world.

I was always one of the first people that arrived in the office, which was conveniently located across the street from a Starbucks, and this was a great way to start the day because it allowed me to get situated before the busy day began. Coffee, a banana from the shared food in the office pantry (which was always stocked with granola bars and fresh fruit), and some good music are all I need to get to work on my bi-weekly office email. The New Titles Update is one of the only things that I do consistently every time I’m in the office. Which can be nice sometimes when you work at a startup company where each day can be viewed as a potential adventure.

My favorite thing about the office, however, is when the other employees, especially the other interns, arrive to the office. We sit at Intern Island, and work on our various projects independently, but the office atmosphere can’t be beat.
