Fall 2015 Site Review

Position: Membership Support
Student: Economics Senior

My internship during the Fall 2015 semester was at a mobile healthcare provider called WhiteGlove Health, where I worked primarily with the Logistics & Membership Support Department. Working within this department allowed me to work with the Billing team, Clinical Staff, Account Management, and the Value Based Care Division which gave me a solid understanding of how the company operates on a day to day basis. Additionally, I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with many of the high level executives on a number of the projects I was assigned.

The main medical service WhiteGlove Health offers is mobile primary care, meaning they dispatch medical professionals to on-site locations such as home addresses or workplaces to treat sick patients or administer routine health check-ups. Coincidently, I began interning at a critical time for the young company because they launched a number of new initiatives during the course of my internship.

One of these initiatives was a Value Based Care service, an approach to healthcare that stresses quality of services rendered over quantity, which offered health and wellness exams to qualifying members with the goal of strengthening their primary care. After 7 years, the company’s main focus of mobile primary care is slowly transitioning towards Value Based Care as their number one priority.

Each day I was typically assigned a new task depending on the provider availability for that given week. Majority of my time was spent speaking with members and scheduling medical consultations which allowed me to sharpen my communication skills and acquire an abundance of medical terminology. Furthermore, I gained a better understanding of the medical industry and the regulations that govern this sector.

When I was not speaking with members to book medical visits, I was working with Account Management to audit and enroll corporate memberships. While working in tandem with the Account Management team I was able to become more proficient with my Microsoft Office skills which will prove to be valuable in my next position
