Resources for Plan II Alumni:

Updating Your Contact Information

Please let us know if you have moved or changed your contact information. You can update your alumni information here to stay connected with program and college updates.

Alumni Newsletters & Events

Every fall and spring we will send out an email newsletter with program updates and news items from our alumni community. We will also occasionally send out emails with information about events for alumni including a fall tailgate at the Plan II office, lectureships, guest speakers, and student thesis presentations.

Please keep your email address up to date to receive these emails. You can also stay up to date on program events through the News & Events section of our website, or by following the Plan II Honors Facebook page, Instagram or Twitter accounts.

Mentoring & Networking

Through the University's free online networking platform HookedIn, Plan II graduates can connect with other alumni and current students. By creating a profile on HookedIn you can:

Connect - Get plugged into a network of Longhorns working in every industry. Learn from their experience and build your resume.
Give back - Introduce, hire, and mentor new graduates of The University of Texas.
Grow - Leverage the power of Longhorn Nation and take the next big step in your career.

Once you have created a profile, search in the Groups link in the left side menu for the Plan II Honors Program subgroup. There you can connect and make posts exclusively for the Plan II community. You may also join the College of Liberal Arts group, or other colleges with which you have an affiliation, where you can find more even resources such as a job board.

In addition to networking resources, alums can both offer and seek career mentoring via HookedIn. Through the "HookedIn Mentoring" link on the left sidebar, members can seek informal mentoring opportunities from fellow alumni. When creating your profile, you can also indicate what mentoring help you are available to offer, both to fellow alumni and to our current students.

There is also a Plan II Alumni Facebook group and a Plan II Alumni & Students LinkedIn Group

Career Resources

In addition to the networking and job postings provided through HookedIn, alumni can access career resources through the University and College career offices:

  • Liberal Arts Career Services - For one year following graduation, alumni have access to all LACS services - including individual career coaching and access to their recruiting system, Handshake. Alumni more than one year out have lifetime access to HireUTexas, the UT Austin job board, offering entry- to senior-level opportunities with employers seeking to hire UT students and alumni. In addition, several of the career fairs scheduled throughout the fall and spring semesters are open to alumni. Alumni also have access to fee-based individual career coaching sessions.
  • Texas Career Engagement - In addition to the HireUTexas job board, Texas Career Engagement provides online career resources free to alumni.
  • Texas Exes - Fee-based career coaching is available; members receive discounted rates and access to their career resources library.

Recruiting Plan II Students & Alumni

We'd be delighted to share your employment or internship opportunity with the Plan II student & alumni community. Firms or individuals interested in interviewing/hiring Plan II Honors students or graduates must first contact and make arrangements through one of two offices:

  • Liberal Arts Career Services
(LACS) staff is dedicated to helping employers promote and manage recruiting programs to fill a variety of hiring needs. As part of the LACS commitment to your search for top talent, LACS offers job and internship posting services and a complete on campus interviewing program.
  • RecruitUT
The University of Texas at Austin offers comprehensive services to our employers, from campus-wide to college-specific recruiting.

After arrangements are made through LACS or RecruitUT, and the position is posted with one of these offices, the prospective employer may notify Plan II Honors of the job posting and/or interviewing event details.

  • Send the information in an email to Plan2News, with the subject "Plan II Newsletter submission."
  • Provide details about the job posting, with a link or email contact for additional information.

Plan II will then publicize the job information in the Plan II weekly email newsletter and social media to current Plan II students, and to alumni via HookedIn.

Due to both UT policies and EEO guidelines/laws, Plan II will not schedule or host information sessions or interviews.

Giving to Plan II

Support from our alumni is critical to the ongoing success of the program - gifts from alumni help support the education of Plan II students directly through scholarships and grants, and through helping fund programs for our students such as peer mentoring, career week events, and internships.

There are many ways to support Plan II. One-time gifts or monthly/annual pledges can be easily made online through UT's secure online giving portal.

Larger gifts such as endowments or estate gifts can be arranged through the College of Liberal Arts Development office

Gifts of any size are deeply appreciated and go a long way in sustaining the mission of Plan II Honors. Thank you!
