Digital Storytelling Seminar Gives Students a Shot at Filmmaking, Applications Now Open

Tue, Jan 6, 2015

Now in its second year, the Digital Storytelling Seminar provides the opportunity for 30 Liberal Arts undergraduates to relive and retell some of their most epic, real, tragic and ecstatic college moments.

This free 12-week seminar is focused around student-made video projects written, directed, produced and edited by Liberal Arts undergrads. Group productions of short films shot in high-definition video provide students with an introduction to digital storytelling, film and media production.

Seminar participants will receive hands-on experience in:

  • Screenwriting and Storytelling
  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • Rights and Permissions
  • Graphic Effects
  • Careers in Digital Video Production

Participants are provided with access to equipment, training, software and direct support from working professionals in video production. Guest lecturers from the Austin film industry instruct each seminar. These workshops guide participants through the creation of their own digital story.

Students can apply for the seminar here. The deadline for applications is January 23.
