Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad

The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies periodically organizes teacher and student study abroad trips with support from the Fulbright-Hays foundation under the Group Projects Abroad program. Programs generally take place in the summer over a period of four to ten weeks. Admission to the program is by application. Applicants are selected by a committee of faculty, staff and outside reviewers based on a series of essay questions and proven commitment to teaching world studies in the classroom.

The programs are led by Center faculty and staff, and include lectures, site visits, readings and discussion sessions designed to provide background knowledge and in-depth understanding of the culture and society of the host country. CREEES is has organized programs in Moscow (2013-2016), in Siberia (2013) and in Bulgaria (2004).

The Center also occasionally organizes Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) sessions for the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Information about these sessions is provided to participants in the selected program.
