COLA Subvention Grants
The College of Liberal Arts (COLA) created the Subvention Grant opportunity to support the publication of books and prestigious scholarly articles by COLA faculty and students. The College expanded this program in 2022 to provide support for faculty and students publishing articles in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals that have publication fees. In both cases, funds are paid directly to the publisher, and authors may not be reimbursed from the account. If awarded support, the author and publisher must agree to acknowledge the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin for the subvention grant.
- How to Apply
The application requires the following:
- College of Liberal Arts Subvention Grant Application Form
- Cover letter addressed to Associate Dean Frances Champagne
- Two-page curriculum vitae
- For books, pre-publication reviews (at least one); examples include: manuscript reviews, questionnaire/ anonymous reviews from outside critics
- For journals, evidence of journal impact and selectivity
- Formal letter of acceptance from the publisher or journal
- For books, a statement by the publisher that a subvention of a specific amount is required and justification for that amount. For journals, information on the fee structure.
