LAC Study Abroad

For Liberal Arts students studying abroad on a fall, spring, summer or May term or full year abroad.  

Scholarship Information:

  • Period: Competition is held at the beginning of each long semester
  • Amount of awards: $500-$2,000
  • Award winners will be selected by the Liberal Arts Council Scholarship Committee and notified the semester they apply

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Only currently enrolled Liberal Arts undergraduates at The University of Texas at Austin may apply.
  • Applicants must have a minimum overall in-residence UT GPA of 2.75 and 12 hours completed in-residence at time of application.
  • Students must be attending a UT Affiliated, Reciprocal Exchange or faculty led program (summer or May Term), and be registered full-time at UT during their term abroad.
  • Degree holders will not be considered for this award

Other Requirements:

  • Submission of three one-page essays
  • If chosen as a finalist, an interview will be required.
  • A thank you letter will be required, if awarded.

The application will be available at the beginning of each fall and spring semester in the Longhorn Awards & Student Scholarship Opportunities (LASSO) portal.
