Strong-Shelby County Scholarship
For Liberal Arts student from Shelby County, Texas or adjoining counties.
Scholarship Information:
- Period: Competition is held at the beginning of each long semester
- Amount of awards: varies
Scholarship Restrictions:
- For undergraduate students currently majoring in Liberal Arts who are from Shelby, Sabine, Panola, St. Augustine or Nacogdoches County, Texas.
- Based on financial need and academic merit.
- Completion of a minimum of 12 UT hours, at time of application.
- UT-Austin GPA of at least 2.5
- Degree holders will not be considered for this award.
Other Requirements:
- Submission of a two-page essay
- One letter of recommendation from a UT faculty member.
- A thank you letter will be required, if awarded.
IMPORTANT:
- Application opens in LASSO on the first class day of the spring semester.
- Scholarship pays out in the fall and spring of the next academic year.
- Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment in both the fall and spring of the award year.
- Award winners will be selected by the College Scholarship Committee and announced by the end of the spring semester.
