Introducing the 2023-2024 COLA Common Read
The Common Read provides a shared experience of intellectual and community engagement by bringing students in the college community together to read and discuss one text and its themes. The goals of the Common Read are as follows:
Intellectual connections
- Celebrate the rich traditions of the college
- Engage with pressing contemporary challenges that are relevant to UT’s mission as a public institution and explore solutions
- Bridge opportunities between academic and student life
- Highlight the range of interdisciplinary breadth in the college
Community connections
- College-wide dialogue and programs around one text
- Brings together COLA community and surrounding communities
- Fosters civility by exploring different views and experiences

This year the selected text is All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis. Program development is in progress, with plans to distribute books by the end of fall 2023. Join us for the kickoff event for the 2023-2024 COLA Common Read, the anthology All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis.
