Lending Library & Book Awards

LLILAS maintains a library of reference materials, films, children’s and young adult books, and curricula as well as cultural enrichment trunks containing traditional clothing, instruments, and crafts from countries throughout Latin America. As part of our Children’s Literature Workshop series, we try to hold copies of all of the books discussed in our outreach library. These items are available for free to educators nationwide. The only cost is return postage; local teachers can drop return items off at LLILAS to avoid postage costs, if desired.

Our outreach library contains many of the books discussed in our Children’s Literature Workshop Series, which are recognized through the Pura Belpre Award, Tomás Rivera Book Award, and the Américas Book Award, the latter of which LLILAS helps to sponsor through our participation the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP). These awards recognize quality youth and children’s literature about Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latinxs in the US. Additionally, we maintain curriculum for certain Americas Book Award winners through our partnership with CLASP. View more information about our available curriculum.
