Program Description:

The Vice President for Research has been invited to submit two faculty member nominations to The Defense Science Study Group (DSSG), sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and administered by the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA).  This two-year program requires approximately 20 days per year, the majority of the time during the summer months.  Those invited to participate focus on defense policy, related research and development, and the systems, missions, and operations of the armed forces.

The Defense Science Study Group seeks to convey to members an understanding of the technical dimensions of national security issues and an appreciation for the people and operations involved.

Selection Criteria:

Faculty member in science, engineering or a related discipline
Outstanding academic accomplishments and a likely future leader in their field
Preferably within 15 years of their PhD
Must be a US citizen (to acquire security clearance).
